Week 6 - ID Theft Reflection

So during week 6 of Online Experience our topic was Identity Theft. Identity Theft is when someone uses your personal information without your permission.

After learning more about Identity Theft I have learned that I need to be more careful about the things I do online. I found out that it isn't good for you to use the same username or password for every account you make. Becuase if someone cracks one account they can crack another after another. Which can lead to a severe case of identity theft.

I have learned ways that someone can steal your information through plenty of ways including old-fashioned stealing, by just taking your purse in the mall.

From now on I will take these steps in making myself more protected online:
  • Create more secure passwords by including altealst two or three letters and at least one symbol.
  • Have atleast 4-5 different account names to use for different websites.
  • Not respond to advertisements claiming I have a new e-mail, a pre-paid debit/credit card, and emails asking from my credit card information, becuase I don't even have a credit card.
  • Be careful who I talk to online.
